More people are considering the best way to eat. An interesting thing since my heart attack is the conversations I have now had with cardio Drs and diabetes educators is about the food that I should now be eating. My thoughts about that? Maybe I should have been eating that way in the first place. I sometimes think we are not that well educated on what good food is and how it really effects each one of us. I mean we know the basics of what looks healthy, but I have actually been quite surprised by what is and what isn’t.
Plant Based Eating
You may have heard plant based diet being talked about a bit lately. Eating only natural plant based food. My first thought about this was that I was going to end up eating like a rabbit and having salad for breakfast, lunch and dinner. So I was a little naive on that one and have since had some very delicious and satisfying meals. Not only that but I have noticed a huge difference in my energy levels and general wellbeing. When I have wavered I have certainly noticed the ill effects of sneaking in some of my old favorites.
It has now been said that a plant based diet can actually reverse things like heart disease and diabetes. So this is part of my journey to move fully to a plant based diet and see what results this produces in my life.
What is a plant based diet? A plant-based diet is a diet based on foods derived from plants, including vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes and fruits, but with few or no animal products.
I will be hunting out some great recipes and sharing them on here. Watch this space….
